Patient Stories

“If I were to try and define the work that’s done here, I would probably say that it’s a wonderful treatment for areas that can take some heat, like lungs and liver. What happens in a very simplistic way is that you are put on a scanner under conscious sedation and then a very big needle, rather like a knitting needle, some of which Dr. Williams has patented himself I gather, is inserted into your body straight into the tumor, and then the needle is heated to 100 degrees Celsius, which basically burns the area. Dr. Williams can see the area he’s burning and can move the needle round and canget as much of the area as he’s intending to treat. And then he zips the needle out, pops a band-aid on the spot and inserts the needle into the next tumor, if there is one. It’s really quite amazing—after the treatment, you go home and have a series of band-aids, in my case on my back.”

"I tell people in New Zealand about this procedure all the time, and talk them through it. I wholeheartedly recommend it and everything about the way it takes place here"

“From the beginning of March 1996, I had breast cancer, and they took part of my right breast. I had radiation and chemotherapy and I was on tamoxofin for five years. In March of 2003, I found out it had metastasized to my spine. I was in pain 24/7 and was on duragesic pain patches, OxyContin 20 mg, 10 mg and breakthroughs. In September of 2003, Dr. Asher introduced me to Dr. Williams and I had the ablation and I’ve been pain free ever since. I met Dr. Williams at the McCollough Institute and Dr. Asher introduced me to him because of the pain. I had an interview with him and he set up the procedure and he and his staff have all just been wonderful---good follow up and everything is fine now. I was sore after it but there is no pain associated with it."

"I believe in radiofrequency ablation because it took away 100% of my pain...it’s not invasive and I’m living proof that it works.”

"There are a million different treatment options for cancer, and I think I’ve probably investigated them all! I have had several doctors from the leading cancer centers in the United States tell me that my situation was basically hopeless....with colon cancer metastases in the lungs and liver, I was no longer a surgical candidate, and physicians started talking to me about concentrating on “the quality of my remaining life”. I found my way to the American Cancer Ablation Center, and have had the radiofrequency ablation procedure. Instead of 9 live tumors, I only have one left, and we are currently working on destroying it too. Dead tumors mean no live cancer activity, which equals a lot more options that I ever had before!

"As a patient that had been tagged “hopeless” by some key cancer institutes in the U.S., radiofrequency ablation has changed my life. My tumor burden has been dramatically cut back, and we have plans to eradicate it completely. My life is now exactly as it was “before cancer”...and I mean to keep it that way. And I could not have done it without radiofrequency ablation and Dr. Williams."
